Help with your free name files
New to 3D printing, or just new here? This page walks through it all, one short step at a time.
Your first file, start to finish
- Choose something to make: a keychain, a door sign, an ornament, a bag tag, and more.
- Type into Name, then try a Font and a Size. Pick your two colors.
- Tell it which printer you have. Switch to On the print bed to see how it sits on your bed. Size only goes as big as your bed allows.
- Click Download free. The first time, you'll Sign in with Google. Playing with designs and previews never needs an account; downloading and saving do.
- Load the file into your slicer, slice, and hit print. Each download comes with printing notes.
Like what you made? Save design keeps it in your account, and Share this design gives you a link to send to someone else.
Two colors, even with one nozzle
Most of our designs use two colors and only need one swap: the letters start at a single height, so everything below is color one and everything from there up is color two.
If your printer has a filament changer
An AMS, MMU3, CFS, or ACE Pro handles the swap on its own. Load both colors and print as usual.
If it doesn't
No problem. Set your slicer to stop at the height your download tells you. Start with color one loaded. When the printer stops, change to color two and let it carry on. That's the whole trick.
Not sure where the pause setting lives? We have pause-at-layer guides for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, Creality Print, Cura, and a few others.
Lots of names in one download
Making tags for a whole soccer team or ornaments for every cousin? Find Make a set in the editor and add the extra names, one on each line. Each one becomes its own piece, and they all share the same font, colors, and logo.
- Most designs: up to 31 names at once (the main one plus 30 more).
- Ornaments, including the teacher apple and the pumpkin: up to 20.
- Drink tags and place cards: up to 150, so a big wedding fits in one go.
We arrange the pieces to fill the fewest beds we can. If one bed isn't enough, you get a file for each plate, all in the same download. However many names are in it, a set uses just one of your daily downloads.
3MF or STL: which file do I want?
The editor only lists the kinds of file your printer's slicer can open, with the best fit first. None of them carry printer settings, so your own slicer profiles stay in charge. They just hold the shape and which filament each part uses.
- Bambu 3MF
- Opens in Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, Creality Print, Anycubic Slicer Next, and Elegoo Slicer. If the slicer mentions it only loaded geometry, that's normal and nothing is wrong.
- Prusa 3MF
- Made for PrusaSlicer, with each part already matched to a filament.
- STL files in a zip
- The fallback for any slicer. Bring in every STL together and, if your slicer offers, keep them as one object with several parts. The file names tell you which color each one is.
Changed printers since? Your account can hand you the same design again in another format your printer takes.
Adding a logo or icon
Any design can carry a small picture next to the name, or none at all. Look under Logo.
The quick option is a built-in icon: a snowflake, Christmas tree, star, heart, pumpkin, ghost, bat, or dreidel. You can also upload your own SVG, PNG, GIF, or JPG (5 MB at most). It prints in a single color, so bold, simple shapes come out best; photos and tiny details won't. The preview shows what will really print.
Logos you upload stay private to your account, ready to reuse, and you can remove them from your account whenever you want. Please only upload art you're allowed to use.
Why it's free, and the daily limit
Everything here costs you nothing. The ads you see on the site are what keep it running. To keep it fair for everyone, each account gets 10 free downloads a day.
- A set counts as one download, whether it holds 2 names or 150.
- Getting a file again from your account doesn't count, and neither does getting it in another format.
- If something goes wrong while we build a file, you get that download back.
- The count starts over at midnight UTC.
There's also a ceiling for each internet connection, so a stack of accounts on one network can't go past it together. It's set high enough that a classroom or office sharing Wi-Fi shouldn't notice. The editor and your account page show how many downloads you have left today.
Selling what you make
Go for it. You're welcome to sell the things you print from our files, at a craft fair, on Etsy, or to your neighbors. The files, though, stay with you: please don't pass them around or sell them. The terms spell it out, and our ornament selling guide has tips. Do a test print before you take orders.
Your account
Signing in with Google gives you a place to keep things. Your account holds every file you've downloaded (grab any of them again whenever you like), your saved designs, your printers, and your logos.
You can delete the account from the account page. That removes all of it for good, so download anything you want to keep first. The privacy policy covers what we store.
